July 4th Flotilla and Hideaway Resort Centennial
The DLWA Board of Directors is pleased to announce it will be sponsoring the annual flotilla on Deer Lake on Sunday, July 4, 2021. Starting time is the usual noon and the staging area is out on the water at Hideaway Resort.
This event was canceled in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic.
Decorate your watercraft, or not, and join us on an hour-long parade around Deer Lake! There will not be an award contest this year, but we encourage participants to be creative if they choose to decorate.
Please refrain from any political statements or themes.
Flotilla starts at Hideaway Bay at noon, weather permitting. Afterwards, beach your boat at Hideaway Resort or come by land whether you participated in the flotilla or not. Ice Cream, water or pop will be provided by the DLWA . Brats and chips will be provided by Hideaway Resort. Please feel free to join in any or all the events. The flotilla will beach at approximately 1:00 PM at Hideaway Resort on Deer Lake.
In addition to eating, relaxing and visiting together, Hideaway Resort will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary. A 20 minute video will be shown and captures Denny Carlson’s memories of the history of Hideaway beginning in 1921 when Charlie Blackmer (Deer Lake Charlie) and his wife Vega came to Deer Lake and established Hideaway Resort. Join us for the flotilla beforehand or simply stop by around 1:00 PM. to help Hideaway celebrate.
